Dendritic cells-based (DCs) tumor immune therapy technology is to trigger and arouse immune response of CD4+ and CD8+T cells through the process that dendritic cells (specific tumor antigen-presenting cells) present tumor-associated antigen information to correspondent T lymphocyte, thus specifically killing tumor cells. This technology makes full use of transmission and expression of tumor antigen in human body and arouses human immune system to fight against tumor cells and is known as one of the most promising tumor therapies in the 21st century.
Dendritic cells（antigen presenting cells, APC） are a unique group of white blood cells that activate the immune system by capturing antigens -- substances that trigger an immune response, such as against viruses, bacteria, or tumors -- and presenting them to the body's killer cells called T cells to activate those cells. DC is a strategic intermediary between antigen and lymphocyte, DCs break the antigens on the cancer cell surfaces into smaller pieces. DCs then act as most-wanted posters for the immune system, displaying those antigen pieces to T cells, which results in triggering immune response in patients. The therapeutic cancer vaccine is known as one of the most promising tumor therapies in the 21st century.
